The Higher Ground Choir from Hunter Street Baptist Church is traveling to New Orleans, LA for an exciting time of hands on ministry, service, service, fellowship, and singing. We are expecting God to reveal Himself in a mighty way during this choir mission tour. Whether it be through the singing, the mission work, the way our students act in public, or the conversations that will take place between students and people they have never met, we are praying for God to make His name great through us.
God has given each of us one chance at this life. What we do with that life matters here on earth and in eternity. For Christians, the light of Christ has been given to us to shine to the whole world. Our life has been ignited with the flame of Christ’s salvation through the power of the Holy Spirit.
The darkness in the deepest darkest parts of our world cannot over power the light of Christ. When we talk about light and darkness, we say, “Open the window and let the light in.” We do not say, “Open the window and let the dark in.” Light overpowers the darkness and darkness cannot overpower the light. The same is true with the light of Christ when we commit ourselves to SHINE for Christ.
For we do not preach ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, and ourselves as your servants for Jesus’ sake. For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ. But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us.
–2 Corinthians 4:5-7 (NIV)
The question remain: Do you have the light of Christ inside of you? If so, the next question is, do you shine your light for Christ each day and in every situation?
